Good grief, that sounds awful, even worse than the fat women waving their armpits at the screen for Dove deodorant. Why do they choose unattractive fat women for their adverts? Maybe they think that most of the audience are like that and will identify with them. Gone are the days when they chose beautiful slim women, who the audience might actually aspire to be like!
I bet you're an oil painting yourself too. Vile post.
I'm not on TV advertising beauty products. 😄
Should show people who are happy and comfortable in themselves whatever their size and look reflecting the people who might use their products.
Exactly.

Why do they have to be beautiful? Do all adverts have to have beautiful men too?
Re: Top Of The Pops 1996 - BBC4
Great song. Great recording.
Not sure seeing an elderly Etta going through the motions adds much to proceedings.

Found it quite dull to be honest. Maybe because I couldn't make out what was being said most of the time and it was very much a talky episode.

Not an East 17 song you hear a lot these days, and for good reason

Liz Kershaw is thicker than a Boxing Day 💩, another one who’s jumped on the looney train,no surprise to see her on GB News
As my late Aunt would have said 'She's a face like a scowling dog'
Liz is someone else obsessed with dissing the BBC (so very well placed on this poor excuse of a channel).
Re: BBC Bargain Hunt- General Discussion
Gyles Brandreth mentioned Bargain Hunt on R4 last night as the perfect example of a feel good show, that restores his faith in humanity I agree.

Re: The 'AM death watch' thread...
We've had quite some discussion about this already on this thread - I think the conclusions were that the Shipping Forecast now doesn't really need to be broadcast by the BBC at all, there are enough methods to get that information other ways now. However they are part of the fixtures of the opening and closing of R4, so they remain for now at the out of the way times of 05:20 and 00:48.Apart from radio teleswitching for electricity suppliers and bearing in mind the MW filler transmitters for Radio 4 have gone. What purpose does 198 khz LW serve. It doesn't seem to be a promoted way of listening to Radio 4 anymore. Bearing in mind the discussions on this thread regarding shipping forecasts, there is now just one simple question . If 198 khz was switched off tomorrow, would shipping forecasts cease straight away or would they continue on FM/DAB etc.
LW has next to no point now for R4, other than the data on 198kHz. So as that remains for now (funded by others) there is little cost for the BBC to continue to use it, so they do for the few remaining listeners. But probably only for another year.
My money would be on some bureaucratic reason as to why they aren’t just running a carrier wave for the meter data. We seem to religiously stick to licensing conditions whereas in France, for example, they seem to have an ability to bend the rules where it makes pragmatic sense. How else do you explain 162kHz?
Makes you wonder whether someone in OFCOM insisted to the electricity industry that there was no way they could used 198 without a broadcast audio service (OFCOM have always banned ‘blank’ carriers on the broadcast band) and the BBC just went along with it as they are getting a free outlet keeping the outrage merchants off their backs for a bit longer (and until there will be even less of them around to kick off when they do close it).
